Inspiring Author Talk

News |

Author Tracy Baines returns to Cleethorpes to share her writing experiences and how the resort helped inspire these.

Tracy, whose Variety Girls book series was shortlisted for the Romantic Novel Saga Award in 2021, was born in Cleethorpes. At the age of eight her parents took over the management of The Pier Hotel.

The hotel was reopened as a music venue, bringing in performers such as Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders, Billy J Kramer and Billy Fury, and so began Tracy’s love of live entertainment.

The first two books of Tracy’s fictional series are set in the square mile that was her childhood home in Cleethorpes around the time of both World Wars.

The talk takes place in the Albert Room at Cleethorpes Library on Wednesday, 12th April, 7pm to 9:30pm. Tickets cost £3 per person and must be booked in advance.

Tickets are also available in person at any Lincs Inspire Library (Cleethorpes, Grimsby, Immingham or Waltham) or by calling Cleethorpes Library on (01472) 323650 during library opening hours.

We’re delighted to welcome Tracy back to the area. We’ve had lots of interest already and with her work being so heavily inspired by Cleethorpes, the talk promises to bring back lots of nostalgia.
