Martin Impey Talk

News |

Discover the stories behind the poignant illustrations of multi-award winning illustrator Martin Impey, as he talks about his interpretations of World War One poet Wilfred Owen’s masterpiece ‘Dulce et Decorum Est’.

The talk will shed light on the creative processes behind Martin’s 2018 illustrative book of the same name, whilst showing how the project brought him closer to Wilfred Owen - the man, the poet and the soldier.

Martin has been a freelance illustrator since 1991 and is well known for his published children’s books that include the multi award-winning WW1 Where the Poppies Now Grow Series with prize-winning author Hilary Robinson. Martin’s accolades include The Historical Association Young Quills Award in 2016, as well as being shortlisted twice for the Kate Greenway Medal. He was also recently asked to give the annual Wilfred Owen Birthday Lecture by the Wilfred Owen Association.

We’re delighted to welcome Martin back following the success of his first workshop earlier this year. His illustrations are a powerful reimagining of one of Wilfred Owen’s most widely read works.
