History: On Screen and In Print

News |

A new website brings the streets and stories of North East Lincolnshire and beyond directly to people’s devices at home.

Ten thousand images from Lincs Inspire Libraries local history photography collection is now available online, covering the whole of historic Lincolnshire from the earliest days of photography up to the modern day.

Search for images contained within 20 digital albums ranging from ‘Trawlers’, ‘Schools’, ‘Docks’, ‘Pubs and Hotels’ and ‘People’.

History enthusiasts are also able to order prints of their favourite images directly from the website, ranging from postcard size to large, framed canvases. A unique Christmas present for those fascinated with the area’s heritage and history.

The digital collection website has been made possible due to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and is part of a wider project called The Streets and Their Stories.

The Streets and Their Stories project has enabled us to showcase our fantastic Local History Photograph collection online for the first time. The initial collection of over 10 thousand images holds many hidden gems of the local area from the past 150 years.

“It is extremely exciting that everyone will be able to access these images from our new website. Work has started on digitising more of our collection, which will be added to the new site once ready.
