Waltham Library to host Museum Collection Talk

 

Ship models, archaeology and costumes will be the focus of a talk at Waltham Library on Friday, January 10.

Louise Bowen, Collections Officer at North East Lincolnshire Council’s Museums Service will treat audience members to a brief history of the museum service and show how it cares for the 60,000 objects currently held within the collection.

Louise has worked in museums for twelve years and is responsible for caring for the Councils collections and the temporary and permanent displays at Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre.

Jennie Cartwright, Development Officer, Lincs Inspire Libraries said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this new series of talks. We hope there is something for everyone, offering the chance to learn more about local people and our local history.”

The talk is part of several talks spanning a variety of subjects at Waltham Library, including:

  • February 14th - ‘The Language of Flowers’ from Loretta Rivett, Royal Horticultural Society.
  • March 13th - ‘In Ruhleben Camp’ from Derek O’Connell, Lincs Inspire Libraries.
  • April 17th - ‘Early Aviation in Grimsby’ from Paul Hare, Aviation Historian.
