Supporting Samaritans' 'Brew Monday'
Issued: January 22, 2020
Cleethorpes Library’s weekly singing group ‘Chorus and a Cuppa’ helped raise over £70 earlier this week in support of national charity Samaritans’ ‘Brew Monday’ campaign.
Funds from the campaign, which encourages people to get together during January for conversation over a cup of tea, will go towards furthering the charity’s mission and help provide people somewhere to turn when they need to talk.
Monday’s session saw £1 donated from every person to the cause, and thanks to this and the generosity of individuals attending, the group was able to raise a total of £71. The session also welcomed new members, further supporting the campaign’s aim of bringing people together.
Chorus and a Cuppa takes place every Monday at Cleethorpes Library, 11:15am to 12:15pm and costs £3 per person. Everyone is welcome, including people managing long term health problems, such as dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. The ability to read music or have any previous experience in singing is not required.
