Calling all former Grimsby Library staff!

Grimsby Library is celebrating its 50th birthday on Tuesday 9th October and all ex-members of staff are being invited to drop in any time between 10am and 2pm for a drink and cake to celebrate!

The celebration will have a sixties theme, with current staff dressing up in sixties outfits and others are encouraged to do the same.

Derek O’Connell, Development Manager for Lincs Inspire Libraries, said: “Grimsby Library has been an iconic building in the centre of the town since it opened in the 1960s, everyone being familiar with the Guardians of Knowledge on the front of the building, so we are proud to be celebrating the 50th birthday of both the building and the library service in National Libraries Week.”

The anniversary, which coincides with National Libraries Week, will see ex-members of staff come together with current staff and library users to celebrate half a century of serving the local community.
