Fitness workouts for beginners

KICKSTART fitness week at Lincs Inspire’s Cleethorpes Leisure Centre is a great way for people to take their first step into fitness.

The week of back-to-basics group exercise classes has been designed to help those attending learn the correct techniques in order to get the most of the classes in a relaxed, friendly and welcoming environment.

Gav Johnstone, Lincs Inspire’s fitness development manager, said: “Knowing where to start if you are new to fitness can be a challenge, and so we’ve come up with a range of classes for basic cardio, strength and stretching, that will give anyone a gentle introduction to exercise as well as an awareness of what we offer on our weekly schedule.

“Joining a group exercise class is a great way for anyone to start their fitness journey. Not only will you get fantastic support from our instructors but it’s a great fun. There’s always great camaraderie in our classes and that really helps people to keep on track and give it their best.”

The KickStart week runs from Monday, November 19 to Friday, November 23, and includes 45 minute classes from Boxfit, circuit training, group cycling and yogalates.

Gav added: “We selected a full range of classes to put into our KickStart Fitness Week and they’ll be stripped back-to-basics.

“Everyone and anyone is welcome to attend and we’re looking forward to seeing some new faces in the leisure centre, as well as some existing members who may be stuck in an exercise rut and are in need of something new to shake up their exercise programme.”

Based on responses from over 250 members who have regularly attended Lincs Inspire’s group exercise classes from Oct 2017 to August 2018, 95 per cent said classes are helping them to improve their overall fitness levels. And 86 per cent of members say classes are helping them to improve their overall sense of well-being.

Lincs Inspire offer over 100 weekly group exercise classes across five sites in North East Lincolnshire.

The KickStart Fitness Week classes are available to book online or in the centres from Monday, November 12, and cost £2 for non-members; existing members can attend for free.

Any non-member who attends a KickStart class is eligible for a VIP membership offer where they will pay only £10 for a full Health and Fitness membership for the rest of 2018.
