Volunteers Rewarded With Choclate Tasting Event
Issued: Friday, June 8
A chocolate tasting event went down a treat with volunteers at Lincs Inspire Libraries when Lindsay Gardner from Spire Chocolates attended their annual celebration event during National Volunteers Week.
Almost 30 volunteers attended the event on Friday, June 8 at Cleethorpes Library, most of whom give up their time each week to deliver library books to house-bound residents in North East Lincolnshire or who support other library projects in care settings. In recognition of their service, Lincs Inspire Libraries arrange an annual get-together, this year chocolate tasting was on the menu!
Steve Hipkins, head of cultural services, said: “Without these volunteers there are many of our residents who wouldn’t be able to benefit from the joy of reading. So their time and enthusiasm given over to our Home Library Service deserves to be celebrated. Events like this are a small way for us to say thank you for their commitment and support of our services.
“We were delighted to be able to welcome Lindsay from Spires Chocolates to the event, whose passion and knowledge of her craft is inspirational. I think everyone enjoyed tasting the delicious chocolate!”
The Home Library Service links customers who are unable to get to their local library with volunteers who personally deliver books and stories direct to their homes.
Lincs Inspire Libraries is urging anyone who cannot visit their local library because of a disability, age or ill health to get in touch. Contact Katrina Walster or Gail Speight on (01472) 323651 or email email@example.com.
