South Asian Britain Film Screening
Cleethorpes Library will hold a screening of Britain on Film: South Asian Britain on Wednesday 1st August from 7.30pm.
This compelling collection of archive material that illustrates how the South Asian diaspora in the United Kingdom has so gloriously and meaningfully enriched life in our country.
The programme weaves together footage from across the UK, touching on disparate communities originally from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, offering incredibly rare, little-seen and valuable depictions of these lives on screen.
Jemma Buckley, Project Manager of Britain on Film on Tour said, ‘Britain on Film on Tour captures the history of the nation in a way that words and pictures can’t. Watching these moving images is in itself an incredibly moving experience, especially when that experience is shared with others as we hope it will be by communities across the country. South Asian Britain is one of our most varied and valuable tour programmes, and we’re excited to see what new audiences will discover through this fascinating collection.
Doors open at 7.30pm with the film screening starting at 8pm. Please note there will be no interval but refreshments will be available prior to the screening. Admission is £3.50 per person and no concessions are available.
Bookings can be made at Cleethorpes Library (01472) 323650 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. It is advisable to book in advance as places may be limited.
