Active Forever Celebration Event

JOIN Lincs Inspire at Grimsby Leisure Centre’s Health and Wellbeing Centre on Friday 26th January between 10.30am to 1pm for a special one year celebration event to mark one year since the official launch of Lincs Inspire’s wellness scheme, Active Forever.
The celebration event, which is free to attend, will feature a number of health and wellbeing activities including a Walking Netball session in the sports hall from 11am to 12 noon. There will also be a Tai Chi class from 11.30am to 12.30pm in the studio within the new Grimsby Leisure Centre building.
Arts and Crafts activities, to encourage positive mental health, will also be taking place as well as Lincs Inspire’s Library team delivering some of their popular community based sessions such as Sporting Memories, as well as providing information on books available through the Library service to help improve mental and physical wellbeing, such as their Reading Well programme.
Lincs Inspire’s Health and Wellbeing team are encouraging those who have undertaken the Active Forever wellness scheme to come along and share their success stories as well as celebrate the achievements of others in the café area where refreshments will be available throughout the day.

10.30am– 1pm | Active Forever Marketplace Learn about the Active Forever programme and gain an insight into the benefits it can bring to you. Hear our good news stories from people previously on the scheme and look how it can help you. Refreshments available throughout the day. |
10.30am – 1pm | Official tours of Grimsby Leisure Centre Grimsby Leisure Centre offers an adapted gym with The Toning Suite has 14 pieces of toning equipment which includes both toning tables and toning chairs. They offer a relaxing and gentle form of exercise which is ideal for rehabilitation, those not use to exercise, or people who are living with a long term medical condition. |
10.30am – 1pm | Arts and Crafts – Grimsby Leisure Centre. Lincs Inspire’s Arts Development Team will be showcasing a variety of sessions including Craft and a Cuppa - a relaxed, fun and friendly session which promotes positive mental health and social interaction. |
10.30am – 1pm | Library Services – Grimsby Leisure Centre Lincs Inspire’s Library Team will be delivering some of their popular community based sessions, including Reading Well, Sporting Memories. |
10.30am – 1pm | Wellbeing Service Nutritional advice on hand aswell as information around their service. |
11am – 12 noon | Walking Netball – Grimsby Leisure Centre The slower version of the game is played at walking pace and is designed so that anyone can play it regardless of age or fitness level. |
11.30am –12.30pm | Tai Chi – Grimsby Leisure Centre (New Building Studio) Delivered by Lincs Inspire Sports Development Team, Tai Chi is a popular low-impact exercise session which combines deep breathing and relaxation with slow and gentle movements. Tai Chi is good for a number of different medical conditions including arthritis, osteoporosis and falls prevention. |
What is the Active Forever programme all about?
The Active Forever wellness scheme is designed for over 55s, or anyone with an ongoing health condition, regardless of their age, who would benefit from both physical and mental activity. The programme is packed with health and wellbeing activities individually designed to support a wide range of health conditions.
Wellbeing activities are available across Lincs Inspire venues including Cleethorpes Leisure Centre, Grimsby Leisure Centre, King George V Stadium, Immingham Swimming Pool as well as Lincs Inspire Libraries, so you can find the activities and venues that are right for you.
You can also make the most of Grimsby Leisure Centre’s specialist Toning Suite which offers a relaxing and gentle form of exercise, ideal for rehabilitation, those not used to exercise, or those living with a long term illness or medical condition. The Toning Suite is home to 14 specially designed toning stations, all of which are adjusted to individual needs.
