Britain on Film on Tour at Cleethorpes Library

The series of six films will be shown at Cleethorpes Library on the first Wednesday of the month starting in May 2018 through to October 2018.

Britain on Film on Tour reveals new and unseen stories from as early as 1897, opening up local and regional histories from across the UK’s diverse landscape as well as traditions, cultures and customs of times gone by.

Britain on Film on Tour collects six thematic programmes that make up a unique picture of the United Kingdom, both people and place.  The six films on show at The Albert Room are Coast & Sea on the 2nd May, LGBT Britain on the 6th June, Rural Life on the 4th July, South Asian Britain on the 1st August, Railways on the 5th September and Black Britain on the 3rd October.

Jennie Cartwright, Development Officer for Lincs Inspire Libraries, said: “This offer from the Independent Cinema Office to show archive films in local community venues was an opportunity not to be missed. We are looking forward to hosting the films and hope that there is something for everyone in the range of films on offer.”

Jemma Buckley, Project Manager of Britain on Film on Tour, said: “Britain on Film on Tour captures the history of the nation in a way that words and pictures can’t. Watching these moving images is in itself an incredibly moving experience, especially when that experience is shared with others as we hope it will be by communities across the country. Coast and Sea is one of our most varied and exciting tour programmes, capturing so much of the UK.”
