Local History Workshops Focus on Immingham

Issued: 26th October 2017

RESIDENTS in North East Lincolnshire who are interested in learning about local history and sharing memories are being invited to be part of a project called On Our Street.

Thanks to National Lottery players, Lincs Inspire Libraries has received a Heritage Lottery Fund ‘Sharing Heritage’ grant to work with local communities to produce a “map of memories”.

Using resources from the local history collection in Grimsby Library including maps and street directories, and the creative talents of local artist Nicky Dillerstone, local people are being invited to attend weekly workshops to share their memories and to try out their own creative skills.

The workshops will take place at the Bert Boyden Centre, Immingham, each Thursday afternoon starting on November 30 from 2pm to 4pm. There are seven workshops in total and, after a break for Christmas, they finish on January 25.

The creative pieces produced as part of the On our Street project will be displayed at the Bert Boyden Centre and a record of the project will be documented on the Lincs Inspire Libraries website.

If you’re interested about the project and would like to know more, please contact Jennie Cartwright on (01472) 323615 or email jennie.cartwright@lincsinspire.com
