New North East Lincolnshire Open Art Exhibition Announced

Issued: Friday, October 20

The Lincs Inspire Arts and Library Service has announced that a new Open Art Exhibition will be held in the Cleethorpes Library Albert Room in December 2017 and ending on 13th January 2018. Anyone who lives in North East Lincolnshire is eligible to enter up to two art works. 2D artwork in any medium of up to one meter by one meter in size is eligible to be entered. The best works will be selected for the exhibition and will also have the chance to win one of the two cash prizes of £25 and £50. The judging will be done by a small panel led by well known local artists and former art teacher Alf Ludlam. There will also be a public vote going on throughout the exhibition so that the public itself can vote on what it thinks is the best artwork in the exhibition.

David Power, Principal Arts Officer for Lincs Inspire, said: "This is an excellent and exciting opportunity for local artists to exhibit together and show the public just how much excellent artwork is being created in North East Lincolnshire. Recent events such as the new Words and Music Festival have given local musicians the chance to showcase and the Local Author Fayre did the same for local writers. Now is the chance for our local visual artists to show what they can do."

Artists who wish to enter art work should either email for a copy of the Entry Form with full Terms and Conditions or telephone David Power on (01472) 323350. Alternatively, the entry form can be downloaded here. Initial entry is by email only and it will cost £5 per entry. The deadline to enter work is Friday 17th November and entrants will be notified whether their work has been accepted or not before 30th November. The selected artwork will be for sale – unless the artist in question does not want to sell their work – so there will be opportunities for the public to obtain excellent local art and support local artists.
