Swimmers benefit from local funds

Issued: Thursday, March

Staff from Immingham’s NatWest branch have presented a cheque for £90 to the town’s aqua therapy group. The donation will provide funds for new equipment as well as supporting their annual gala on Tuesday, June 6.

The group meet once a week Lincs Inspire’s Immingham Swimming Pool and were chosen by the NatWest branch to receive the funds, raised through locally supported raffles.

Sheila Lambert, physio assistant for Northern Lincolnshire & Goole Foundation Trust, attached to the Adult Learning Disability Team overseen by Care Plus Trust, is delighted with the donation. She said: “The money will go towards the gala and some new equipment for the Immingham session but the equipment will also be used by everyone who swims at Immingham Pool. It means a lot to know we have the support of local businesses and residents.”

Tracey Carey, Immingham Nat West branch manager, said: “We want to support our local community. These people totally inspire us. They are always happy and we can see they enjoy the sessions here.”

The aqua therapy and swimming sessions are for anyone with disabilities. They offer therapeutic programmes, can be used to learn to swim or simply to relax and enjoy what the session has to offer. Sessions are held at Immingham Swimming Pool and Grimsby Leisure Centre, both have pool hoists and accessible changing facilities.
