Choreographer needs your stories
Issued: Friday, June 23
London based Choreographer Nina von der Werth is creating a new dance piece, entitled The Humber and Me, that needs your stories!
We would love it if you would join us at our open day at Centre4 on Thursday 29th June from 11am to 4pm, and share with us some of your stories about life along the water.
The Humber and Me project, which has been commissioned by the South Bank Dance Hub, aims to explore how the Humber affects the people that live along it. But the project needs your help and in exchange for your stories we will be offering free movement workshops as well as tea and biscuits!
On the day there will be a movement workshop from 11.15am to 12 noon, which is suitable for beginners or those with no dance experience. After the workshop you will have the opportunity to share your stories of life alongside the Humber from 12 noon to 2pm, whilst enjoying complimentary tea and biscuits. If you don’t fancy taking part in the movement workshop you can simply come and share your stories.
From 2.15pm to 3pm there will be an intermediate movement workshop where some dance experience is required. Following that there will be a show and tell from 3pm to 4pm, providing the opportunity to show off photos and objects that represent the area, past and present.
Nina von der Werth said: “I'm really looking forward to creating this new work for the South Bank Dance Hub. The movement workshops and meet-and-greet sessions will hopefully give myself and the dancers a real insight into what life is like along the Humber and we can't wait to hear peoples stories and use these in our piece!”
We would love it if you could bring photos or objects that relate to the area, both past and present, particularly if you associate them with the water.
If you are planning on attending the movement workshops, then please wear comfortable clothing that is suitable for moving in.
If you are just popping in for a chat, then just bring yourself!
