Total Warrior Challenge for Lincs Inspire Staff

Issued: Friday 23 June 2016

SIX brave members of Lincs Inspire staff will be taking part in the Total Warrior challenge in Bramham Park, Leeds on Saturday 25th June to raise money for Help For Heroes.

Total Warrior challenges the stamina, strength and determination of those taking part and includes around 30 punishing obstacles to overcome.

Stephen Bellamey, Fitness Instructor for Lincs Inspire, said: “I’m new to the company and I’ve had a really positive experience coming here and I thought it would be a really good idea to do something and create some memories together!

“We thought it would be really good if we could help a charity whilst we are at it, and it coordinated nicely with Armed Forces Day, so we chose Help For Heroes.”

“It’s a 12k race which includes loads of obstacles, it’s over all different kinds of terrain, up and down hills, you’re crawling through tunnels, climbing over walls and there’s a lot of mud!”

The mud, however, does not deter the Lincs Inspire team which consists of Jordan Bale, Mollie Makenzie, Molly Unwin, Ashleigh Hallam, Jemma Taylor and Stephen Bellamey. All of them are relishing the opportunity, as Stephen explained: “It’s the kind of thing where you have to work as a team. It’s going to be a team effort to get through it all.

“We’ve got swim teachers, fitness instructors and lifeguards taking part. We’re really looking forward to it!”

The team have been preparing for the challenge by putting themselves through their paces in the new Grimsby Leisure Centre and are ready and raring to go!

Danny Phillips, Operations Manager at Grimsby Leisure Centre, said: “I’m really pleased the team are taking part in Total Warrior. It will be a great day and one I’m sure they’re going to enjoy. The team have been working hard in the gym and I’m confident that they are ready for the challenge, although there’s no mud in the gym here, but I’m sure they’ll encounter plenty on the day! It’s wonderful to see the team raising money for such a worthwhile cause, especially with the National Armed Forces Day being held in Cleethorpes. Everyone at Lincs Inspire wishes them all the best on the day.”

If you’d like to sponsor the Lincs Inspire team, donation boxes are in situ at the new Grimsby Leisure Centre.
