Racecourse Aims For County’s Biggest Junior Workout

Lincs Inspire is teaming up with Market Rasen Racecourse to promote health and wellbeing among young people in the county.

Together we are hoping to stageLincolnshire’s Biggest Junior Workout at the annual Don Noble Bookmakers Family Day racing fixture on Sunday, 3rd July.

A Lincs Inspire fitness instructor will lead the youngsters in the workout, and Lincs Inspire’s Sports Development Team will hold a range of fun-filled activities, such as a penalty shoot-out and giant games.

The exciting picnic-themed day, which includes personal appearances by Peter Rabbit throughout the day and the partnership with Lincs Inspire, complements the initiative of the racecourse which launched the Lawn Enclosure Community Project this spring.

Pupils from five local schools - De Aston, Middle Rasen, Legsby, Osgodby and Tealby - have been designing and planting flower beds provided by the racecourse. They will be formally unveiled on the day that the racecourse’s Family Enclosure is re-titled the Lawn Enclosure. The beds will also include a time capsule.

As well as the schools, local businesses have been getting involved, with Jacksons Buildbase, Bathroom Desires, Peter Rhodes, Mole Valley, the Co-op and Tesco showing their support.

Robbie Parry, owner of Mill Farm Nursery in Middle Rasen, has also been offering the young gardeners advice.

Nadia Gollings, General Manager, Market Rasen Racecourse, said: “We are delighted to be getting together with Lincs Inspire on our Don Noble Bookmakers Family Day on the first Sunday in July to promote a healthy lifestyle for youngsters and it’s sure to be an exciting race-day for all the family. The new Lawn Enclosure celebrates all that is good for families on our race-days, showcasing top quality racing combined with high quality children’s entertainment. Market Rasen Racecourse is very much part of its community and we are pleased to be giving something back to our customers who support us throughout the year.”

Sue Wells, Chief Executive, Lincs Inspire, said: “At Lincs Inspire we are all about inspiring people to lead more active and healthy lives through a wide range of sporting, leisure and cultural activities. We are thrilled to be working with Market Rasen Racecourse and encouraging those attending the Don Noble Bookmakers Family Day to get active and have fun!”
