Breakwater Theatre Company will premiere a new play called 'Indomitable' by Cleethorpes-based playwright Andy Evans, commissioned by Lincs Inspire. The play is inspired by the book 'I Walk on Wheels' by Elisbeth Sheppard-Jones.

In 2016 Andy’s play “FIT” was performed to wide-acclaim and sold out in London as well as in Grimsby. His follow-up play “Legend” dealing with the issue of rooftop standoffs, also sold out and met with great critical acclaim.

"With Love From Ruhleben" has been written by Andy Evans of Breakwater Theatre Company, after much research, as part of a project funded by the Heritage Lottery Funding. It tells the story of the seamen from Grimsby who were interned at a civilian prison camp in Germany at the outbreak of World War One. We follow the story of three men captured by the Germans and trying to make the most of their lot in life at Ruhleben Internment Camp just outside Berlin.

The play is one of many events led by Lincs Inspire Library Services taking place throughout May, June, July and August. For details of other Ruhleben talks, workshops and exhibitions, check out our Activities and Events page.
