Cycle Skills

Lincs Inspire's Sports Development coaches spend term time in schools teaching foundation age children fundamental balance and cycle skills, along with older children the important safety techniques of riding a bike, found in the Bikeability programme.

Outside of term time, the team run Learn to Ride courses as one of many holiday activities. Coaches also work with local businesses who want to upskill their workforce and ensure their safety whilst at work. Bikeability Plus Balance

Bikeability Plus Balance

Bikeability Plus Balance is for ages 3 to 5 years and aims to develop co-ordination and balance using a balance bike to encourage children to progress into riding a pedal bike.

During term time coaches deliver the sessions in schools as part of a 6 week course that has proven to be effective in helping children to prepare for taking part in Bikeability training in Year 5.

During school holidays the session is run as a standalone holiday activity.

Learn to Ride - Children

Bikeability (Levels 1, 2 and 3)

Bikeability (Levels 1, 2 and 3)

Bikeability is the 21st Century Cycle Proficiency. The Level 1 is a playground based training course, after which children progress to Level 2, on-the-road training, to include starting and stopping, junctions and safe riding positions. Level 2 teaches children to be confident and assertive in light traffic situations such as the journey to and from school. Both Level 1 and 2 courses are delivered during term time in schools.

Level 3 training is aimed at cyclists who may need to navigate heavier traffic such as town centre, roundabouts and multiple carriageways. We have delivered this training as part of corporate events to adults who cycle to work and also to teams who use a bicycle for their work duties.
