- NELA’s facilities meet with the provisions of the Equality Act (2010). There is no change of level between the street and our entrance, and there is a drop-kerb in close proximity to the front door. The front door is wide enough to allow easy access for wheelchair users (it is 95cm in width) and all our facilities are located on the ground floor, with no changes in level. We have sanitary facilities that are fully accessible to wheelchair users, with grab rails and an alarm pull cord. The hand basin, pedestal, soap dispenser and towel dispenser all meet the prescribed height requirements.

- We endeavour to explain our holdings, services and conditions of access as clearly, comprehensively and simply as possible.
- We welcome feedback from users about our face-to-face, postal and e-mail communications.
- Original items from our collections are made available to the public at events such as Heritage Open Days.

Attitude is Everything assist the music industry to understand the requirements of deaf and disabled people at music venues and festivals. The ethos of the Charter is that deaf and disabled people should be as independent as they want to be at live music events.

Purple Tuesday
Grimsby Leisure Centre supports the national campaign Purple Tuesday by pledging to provide additional support for those members of the community with autism. Purple Tuesday calls on all organisations to make lasting changes to improve the customer experience for disabled people.
Every Wednesday from 9am to 12 noon, the Health & Wellbeing Centre is adapted with:
- no background music or radio
- no public announcements
- the use of a quiet area away from activities for people with autism
This pledge ensures that during these times the centre is a safe place for people with autism to enjoy multi-sports, use of the gyms and other leisure activities.
