Join the Animal Agents at your local library this summer

Issued: 19th July 2017

THIS summer children are being invited to meet a bunch of crime-busting creatures as part of Animal Agents, the Summer Reading Challenge 2017.

Children can sign-up at a Lincs Inspire Library where they can solve mysteries, picking up clues as they go, allowing them to finally solve the cryptic case.

It’s free and it’s fun and children only need to read six books of their choice. Register to take part at any Lincs Inspire Library or alternatively find out more at one of two drop-in bear hunt events.

Join library staff at Weelsby Woods, Grimsby on Monday, July 31, from 11am to 3pm or at Homestead Park, Immingham on Tuesday, August 1 from 11am to 2pm. There will be instructions to collect on arrival where children are looking for hidden words as they go. Enjoy bear-related tales and you may even be lucky enough to spot a ‘bear’ itself!

As part of the annual reading challenge, Lincs Inspire Libraries is rewarding children that take part with prizes as they go. There will also be finale event where they’ll be the opportunity to meet mini-beasts and pets.

Lawrence Dunn, development officer, said: “This is a really fun activity to take part in. It’s a great way to encourage children to read more over the summer holidays. As children read we’ll be rewarding them with stickers, some with mysterious smells! By collecting these clues in their detective folder, they’ll be helping the Animal Agents find out what's really been going on behind the scenes!”
