Disability activities and services

Lincs Inspire is committed to helping everyone in the community to get fitter and healthier and we work with a number of local organisations to deliver weekly activities across our centres for people with disabilities.

Services

Grimsby Leisure Centre's gym equipment is inclusive for all, helping those with a disability or impairment to more easily participate in sport and fitness. Five pieces of inclusive gym equipment are available in the main gym and also four new toning chairs can be found in the newly refurbished Toning SuiteClick here to view a testimonial from Charissa at Shapemaster.

Activities

We work closely in partnership with Care Plus Group and the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust to deliver a number of weekly activities across our centres for people with disabilities. 

Grimsby Leisure Centre
Every Monday
9:30am to 11am
A session in the pool for anyone with disabilities. Enjoy this water therapy session, learn to swim or simply relax and have some fun. The session is led by a sports coach, a special needs swimming teacher and Care4all adult learning disability therapy team. Access to the pool is via a pool-side lift which lowers into the pool, alongside a pool-side hoist. A mobile over-head tracking hoist is available in the disability changing area.

Immingham Swimming Pool
Every Tuesday - 10am to 12 noon 
A session in the pool for anyone with disabilities. Enjoy this water therapy session, learn to swim or simply relax and have some fun. A member of the Care4all adult learning disability therapy team will be in the pool. A pool side hoist is available and accessible changing rooms.

Every Sunday - 2pm to 4pm 
A session in the pool for anyone with disabilities. Enjoy this water therapy session, learn to swim or simply relax and have some fun. A member of the Care4all adult learning disability therapy team will be in the pool. A pool side hoist is available and accessible changing rooms.

Grimsy Leisure Centre
Every Wednesday
9:30am to 12 noon.
A fun, multi-sport and activity session led by Care4all adult learning disability therapy team and Lincs Inspire. During this session there is the opportunity to enjoy:

  • Trampolines and Rebound Therapy: Led by qualified coaches and practitioners. A mobile hoist and steps are available to safely transfer to the trampolines. Booking required and subject to a health screening.

  • Adapted Cycles: Led by practitioners, there is a range of adapted cycles for all abilities, including wheelchair users.

  • Inclusive Gym: Fully inclusive open gym sessions for all users. There is a range of disability friendly equipment and qualified gym instructors on hand to assist.

  • Toning Therapy: A relaxing therapy session which gives a full body workout with minimal effort or impact. Booking required and subject to a health screening.

  • Arts and Crafts: A fun, artistic activity open to all users. A great area to socialise and to create something to take home.

  • Dance: A great way to keep active and have fun.

  • Badminton: Play singles, doubles or as part of a larger team.

Every Wednesday
10:00am to 12 noon
A fun, fully inclusive ice-skating session led by qualified coaches. Available are skating aids, including our Polar Bears. Wheelchair access via ramp also available.

Grimsby Leisure Centre
Every Wednesday
1:00pm to 2:00pm 
A water therapy class for Parkinson's and Stroke patients with a fully qualified instructor. Carer's are welcome to attend free of charge when with a patient.

Grimsby Leisure Centre
Every Monday
1:30pm to 3:00pm 
 A fun, fully inclusive basketball session led by a qualified coach linked to Grimsby Snaprats Basketball Club.

King George V Stadium
Every Thursday
5:00pm to 6:00pm
